The Whitfield Tabernacle

The Whitfield Tabernacle was built in 1741 as a meeting house and school room for the congregation of preachers George Whitfield and John Cennick. Following a disastrous fire in the year 2000, this Grade 1 listed building fell into complete disrepair. Fortunately thanks to years caring perseverance by the ‘Whitfield Tabernacle Trust’, the building received a large restoration grant from the local authority in 2020 and has now begun the journey back to full community use.

Carrek completed Phase 1 of the works in 2020/21, installing a new roof, undertaking major masonry, joinery, glazing and drainage works, as well as the installation of new water and electrical services. It is hoped that Phase 2 will begin in 2024/25.
